Step One - Gather Ingredients.

~Pretzel Rods ~White Candy Melts (or white chocolate chips or white chocolate bark) ~Food Coloring ~Paper Labels (click here and print on colored paper)

Start by cutting pretzel rods in half.

Step Two - Melt & Dip.

  • Melt candy melts or chocolate chips in microwave on medium heat for 1 minute. Stir and continue cooking at 15 second intervals until melted. Stir well. Add a few drops food coloring if desired.
  • Dip ends of pretzels in melted candy.

Step Three - Place & Wait.

Place dipped pretzel rods on wax paper or aluminum foil to dry.

Step Four - Decorate!

When dry, wrap with crayon label and secure with tape. If giving as a gift you can place your new crayons in an inexpensive crayon box for a perfect back-to-school, last day, field trip, teacher or even just an everyday gift!

Notes.

To color melted white chocolate chips or chocolate bark, oil-based candy food coloring is best. If you have regular food coloring, just make sure the chocolate isn't too hot (just warm) when you add it or it might make it clumpy.

Regarding Candy Melts, these are one of my favorites to work with. I usually buy mine from Walmart, they have different colors other than plain white (so no food coloring needed and this recipe just became one step easier!). There are also tons of different chocolates to experiment with in the baking aisle. Good luck and enjoy!
